You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our reserves, including internationally important lowland wetlands designated for waterfowl and wading birds. Your duties range from work programming and land management, to visitor management and meeting stakeholders, so good working relationships are key. They will also help you supervise contractors, liaise with farmers and researchers and recruit a team of volunteer wardens. On a practical level, you'll be managing woods, reedbeds, grazing marshes and coastal habitats and carrying out biological surveys. This requires stamina as well as specialist equipment and vehicles. With your excellent communication skills and knowledge of health and safety, you'll provide a safe, informative experience for visitors. Walks, talks and events will help you do the same for other land managers; while the ability to use chainsaws, tractors and quads will help with practical tasks. A valid driving license is essential. Some weekend working and unsocial hours are expected, but this burden will be shared with the six-strong team.
