Wastewater Services oversees and maintains 1,078 treatment works, more than 3,500 pumping stations, and enough sewers to pump waste from London to Sydney and back. Wastewater Services is divided into five main areas; collection, treatment, regional tankering, quality and process science, and the operational management centre.This team-oriented position will see you joining our (Wastewater) Treatment Works unit responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our plant, pump and treatment systems,ensuring that our assets perform in order to protect the aquatic environment. Operating machinery, monitoring processes, problem solving and an element of manual work will all be part of this varied role.You'll be looking for a hands-on position where you'll feel right at home from day one.Experiencefrom a process industry/engineering or agricultural background would be advantageous. Technically minded you'll also enjoy teamwork and be able to demonstrate that you can use your own initiative to solve problems and prioritise, and we'll provide full and ongoing training to help you to understand in detail the water treatment process.You'll need a flexible approach to working hours as you may be asked to cover out-of-hours calls as part of a stand-by rota, as well as some planned weekend overtime for which you will receive premium rates as standard. Due to the need to provide stand-by cover, this role would most likely suit someone living within 30 minutes from Broadholme Sewage Treatment Works.
