Contract: Industry sectors:HR & Recruitment POSITION OVERVIEW The Carphone Warehouse has, in the past, built a reputation for developing high quality training for product, sales and service and for delivering it in a way that was inspirational, exciting and fun. In more recent times, as the business has grown very quickly, operational pressures have meant that management development training has not always had a clear direction or goal.This has been recognised and the Board has recently approved a pilot for a CPW UK R&D wide Management Development proposal for a 'joined up', cross functional approach, to deliver a common foundation of core skills to support all CPW people managers to manage their teams in 'the CPW way', to take care of customers & to deliver business results.The Management Development courses which form the 'core' of this Management Development approach are the recently defined & designed, 'Leading ' & 'Managing the CPW Way'. . 'Leading the CPW Way' will be targeted at the leadership group of approx. 100 managers. The target population for 'Managing the CPW Way' are the 1100 people managers across the CPW UK R&D business at all levels, with a roll-out plan over a 6-12 month period in partnership with an approved provider. The objective is to develop an 'in-house' training capability for 'Managing the CPW Way' by early next year.'Managing the CPW Way' courses will then sit within the CPW training 'Academy', ongoing, after the initial roll-out as the 'core' management development course for all recently promoted managers & for all new joiner CPW managers. The Academy is not yet fully rolled out across the CPW UK R&D business & this is one of the key objectives of the L&D team. The Academy framework provides for the training stages of the employee journey from Induction through to Senior Management Development.The current focus & investment in the development and training of employees, including managers, is a key part of the overall strategy to "create a wireless world" - in other words to be as famous for making wireless connections as they are for selling mobile phones.The Carphone Warehouse wants to "bring back the magic" to both their customers and their people. A key enabler of 'bringing back the magic' is 'Managing the CPW way' which will equip managers with the skill, knowledge & confidence to effectively manage their team's performance.The role of the Management Development Manager - Learning and Development, will be critical in delivering this CPW wide 'joined up' Management training approach. The role will also be responsible for evolving the Management Development offerings within the Academy, going forward, in line with business requirements & in consultation with the all key business & HR stakeholders. KEY DELIVERABLES ·Create & develop a centre of excellence model for Management Development across CPW UK.·Accountable for the delivery of the 'Leading' & 'Managing the CPW Way' core CPW UK R&D wide management development programmes. This includes tracking the costs and business benefits, (ROI), as well as ensuring that the quality of the 'Managing' programme is sustained by developing an 'in house' CPW L&D management training capability.·Build a team of management development trainers/associates that are both confident & credible with the business.·Proactively consult with key business & HR BP stakeholders as 'expert', to develop, agree & implement, 'joined up', strategic management development solutions in line with business requirements.·Accountable for the review of current Academy offerings & the ongoing development of the Academy in line with evolving business requirements to ensure that these are all aligned, ie., from Induction to Senior Leadership programmes.·Support HR BP team colleagues in tailoring specific individual management development training solutions in support of their HIPO, Talent or Succession planned managers·Lead the Academy CPW wide 're-launch' including the communications approach.·Responsibility for managing supplier relationships as key contact.
