Please note this is a permanent position based in Kirkbymoorside Slingsby Advanced Composites Ltd is involved in the design and manufacture of a wide range of composite structures for the aerospace, marine and defence industries. These include lightweight composite aircraft structures, composite fast jet helmets, Unmanned Air Vehicles, Cockpit Panels for aircraft, propeller spinners, and large composite marine structures. Reporting to the Technical and Planning Manager the successful individual will be responsible to: * Liaise between the design, stress and production functions to co-ordinate and plan projects * Liaise with clients and customers - chair meetings to discuss requirements and methods for production * Compile project plans, manage reviews, carry out cost analysis and co-ordinate activities between the design, tooling and manufacturing facilities * Work on a number of projects at one time and managing conflicting pressures This position would suit candidates with a background in Aerospace composites and production engineering. You should ideally have proven ability in composite materials and have a good understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of design for manufacture. Knowledge of Cost engineering would be an advantage. However people with a strong Project Management background within an Engineering discipline will be considered. Key Skills/ Knowledge * Ideally a relevant engineering qualification (eg HNC/HND / Degree) in a relevant subject area * Knowledge of modern manufacturing and quality processes (lean manufacture, 5S, SMED, etc etc) * Knowledge of the design process and DFM would be an advantage * Knowledge of the design and manufacture of composite products and systems would be highly desirable * Knowledge of the aerospace industry and standards would be highly desirable * Excellent communication skills and good commercial business sense. Relocation will be provided for a suitable candidate.
