Contract: Industry sectors:IT Job Description To provide operational support to CPWN's FGS Provisioning Systems within the Operations department. Developing strong product knowledge, the post holder will maintain the provisioning systems, provide third line support, maintain detailed documentation of the products and deploy product releases. There will also be some scope to be involved in the design and development of the products and advising on how future products should operate on an operational and practical level. Requirements The job holder will be qualified to degree level, enthusiastic about IT/computers as a business solution and ideally with some prior experience in a commercial computing environment such as finance/accounting or any other commercial related field. Experience in engineering projects or a technical support function would also be an advantage.The post holder should be confident in their ability to develop a full understanding of a database product, in order to diagnose problems. Though there is some opportunity to be involved in writing the code of products (using Microsoft SQL Server) this is not essential, however the ability to read, understand and maintain the SQL code is key.The crux of the role is to understand application processes, not languages, using SQL as a tool, rather than a programming language.This role will require excellent communication skills, as the post holder will be expected to provide third line support to CPWN's Service Management Centre. You will also be communicating with the development, design and project management teams regularly in regard to technical issues, providing essential information and feedback. Responsibilities To take responsibility for the ownership and operational management of CPWN's FGS applications and technical products, ensuring that they continue to run smoothly.Identifying any technical issues that impact on the products' effectiveness and either remedying where immediately possible, or escalating when necessary.Provide third line technical support to CPWN's Service Management Centre, offering a swift and effective response built around extensive product knowledge.To create and maintain clear and accurate documentation of the products and the support of the products.Deploy new upgrades of the products.To provide practical feedback on issues discovered during the operational stage of a products life cycle to the product design and development teams, ensuring a learning curve is established for new projects.As part of the project team, the job holder will be involved in the functional testing and acceptance of the software and product.To be engaged in the training process to the second line Service Management Centre teams.Challenges The key challenge of this role will be to ensure that the products continue to operate smoothly and effectively. The ability to identify problems and judge the seriousness and implications will be key. The job holder will be expected to resolve any technical difficulties where possible with an in depth knowledge of the products.
